This year will be Beer HM Coastguard team's "busiest year ever".

It has been called out to incidents 100 times in 2023, as of 13 October.

The Beer team was also called out when a 91-year-old woman suffered a minor head injury after falling over on Sidmouth seafront on Saturday (14 October).

An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "When a 100 is reached in most things it's a celebration, but to us it means more and more people are getting into difficulty and we are being called to rescue them.

"Please stay safe at the coast."

They have advised that if you get into trouble at the coast, you should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
