Sidmouth College is being 'largely rebuilt' as part of a Government programme but to make the school 'a state of the art learning environment' it needs your help to raise £100,000.
Sections of the college are being rebuilt as part of the Government's Priority School Building Programme. However, much of the equipment needed to give students a state of the art learning experience are not being provided as part of the project.
The college has set up a JustGiving page to raise money to buy audio-visual equipment, well resourced community spaces, equipment for the music department, newly equipped technology workshops and IT equipment that makes the best use of the faster internet speeds the new facilities will provide.
The appeal, Sidmouth College £100k Appeal for Premises and Equipment, has been given the acronym SCAPE.
A spokesperson for Sidmouth College explained: "In Botany a SCAPE is a leafless flower stalk growing directly from the ground. Our SCAPE appeal is to put leaves on our stalk, ie the equipment and furnishings that will bring our new building to life and provide the education our students deserve.
"You might think that the Government should fund all of these requirements, but in the current climate most schools only have enough funding to pay for their staff, their running costs and basic resources.
"You can rest assured that all funds donated to this appeal will be used to make a difference to each and every student at the College.
"We will make every effort to recycle all existing equipment that still has a usable life span, either for our own use or for others."
