Firefighters put out a tractor carrying hay bales on fire in the Aylesbeare area on Thursday (15 June).

A member of the public alerted the fire service at around 11am.

Crews from Sidmouth and Exeter Middlemoor were sent to the scene and found the tractor "well alight".

They successfully extinguished the blaze, and the tractor was left around 75 per cent damaged.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire Control were called by a member of the public reporting a tractor carrying hay bales on fire.

"When crews arrived they found the tractor to be well alight and set to work using two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. A fog spike, thermal imaging cameras and water from a second appliance were also used.

"The tractor was approximately 75 per cent damaged by the fire."
