Devon and Cornwall Police caught 116 vehicles speeding and made four arrests on the A3052 in 24 hours over the course of four evenings recently.

The force crackdown on the "high-harm route" comes after 63 recorded crashes on the road from 2020 to 2022.

These collisions resulted in 102 casualties, of which 16 people were seriously injured and four died, the force said.

Head of Road Safety at Devon and Cornwall Police Adrian Leisk said: "We know that speeding is a regularly reported concern for communities in Devon and Cornwall, and we want to make it clear that we are absolutely committed to reducing casualties and keeping our roads safe.

"We know the vast majority of motorists are careful and considerate drivers who stick to the rules and drive at a safe speed.

"This enforcement is focused on targeting the minority of people who do not adhere to the law and, in doing so, put theirs and other people's lives at risk."

The A3052 runs from Charmouth in Dorset to Clyst St Mary in Devon via Sidmouth.
