Woman taken to hospital after collapsing on Sidmouth beach

HM Coastguard and Sidmouth Beach Lifeguards came to the aid of a woman who had collapsed and was unconscious on Sidmouth beach on Thursday (24 August).

The Coastguard was mobilised just before 2pm and when they arrived the woman had regained consciousness was talking to the lifeguards.

An ambulance was called, but no estimated time of arrival was given. It eventually arrived at 5.55pm and the woman was taken to hospital.

An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "Lady collapsed and was unconscious on the beach. On our arrival Sidmouth lifeguards were attending to the lady who was now conscious and talking.

"An ambulance was requested but no eta given. We continued to rehydrate and monitor the casualty until the ambulance arrived at 5.55pm, they took the lady to hospital for further checks.

"We wish her a speedy recovery."
