Works to repair the sea wall, ramp, and replace some of the handrails with a wall at Jacob's Ladder Beach are set to begin next month.

The £200k repairs come after years of storm damage and are expected to be complete by the start of November.

East Devon District Council has said that the seawall requires a new concrete face and its ramp needs to be replaced. The railing will be replaced with a solid wall in some places.

Minor repairs will also be carried out on the Millennium Walkway (that is, the undercliff path from Sidmouth to Jacob's Ladder Beach. There was a small cliff fall at the walkway in April).

Parts of the walkway will be closed from 19 September to the end of November for work to take place. The council has said that it will be 'largely open', but there will be no direct access from Sidmouth town beach to Jacob's Ladder Beach.
