Stuart Hughes on Boris Johnson and upcoming events in Sidmouth

Welcome to Hughes' Views on Nub News and to get this latest edition underway I can't resist mentioning Boris Johnson, our new Prime minister, and yes I was one of the Conservative members who put my tick in the Johnson box on the ballot paper.
In an uncanny way Boris reminds me of my own political background and the jibes I received from certain quarters.
I believe that I proved everyone wrong and Boris will do likewise and so watch this space.
In a previous Hughes Views I mentioned that I had thrown my weight behind Zapinamo and their bid to government for funding to provide an initial 150 Electric Vehicle charging points as phase 1 around Exeter before rolling out a phase 2 around other towns in Devon including Sidmouth and Exmouth.
Well great news the bid to Innovate UK, the Government Innovation Agency investing in science and research in the UK, was successful and the £4m StreetHUBZ project will commence in the near future.
Many people want to exchange their petrol car for an electric car, but because of a lack of infrastructure they have been unwilling to take that step.
This project will allow people to try before they buy, and I have no doubt that it will significantly increase the uptake and use of electric vehicles in and around Exeter.
The Jeanne Edyvean Centre at Norman Lockyer Observatory will be formally opened by the BBC Sky at Night presenters, Pete Lawrence and Paul Abel at 5.30pm on Saturday, August 10, during the South West Astronomy Fair at NLO and there is a lot planned throughout the day and so why not pay a visit and see what's on offer.
Well the annual Folk Festival is almost upon us and the internet based Sid Valley Radio located at the Stowford Community Centre on Stowford Rise has been successful in being granted a temporary FM license for the week and Station Manager Bob Weeks has put together a full gambit of programmes from local presenters that are sure to please so set the dial to 87.7fm and join me between 7am and 9am for Breakfast on Friday, August 2.
