Survey: would you use an electric car hire scheme in Sidmouth?

Potential users of shared electric cars in Sidmouth are being asked to complete a survey to help assess the demand, and likely use, of the service.

Co Cars would make the zero emissions vehicle available for hire, and may provide electric bikes for hire as well.

The scheme would reduce traffic congestion and alleviate parking and pollution problems.

The cars would be available to members of a club who'd pay a £25 per year membership fee. The hire fee would be from £5.50 per hour or £40 a day, and the vehicles could be hired for as little as half an hour.

The short survey, available here, asks what sort of journeys people might use the cars for, such as school runs, shopping, medical appointments, evenings out or day/weekend trips away.

It asks how often they might use the service, how long a hire period they'd be likely to want, and whether they'd get rid of their own car (if they have one) if the electric vehicles were available for hire.

The survey also asks whether people would be interested in an electric bike hire scheme.

Respondents are also asked to give their postcode, to help plan the locations of the hire points.

The survey is being operated by Co Cars and the results will be shared with the Exeter rapid charging project team.
