The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth will be among five UK animal welfare charities that will feature in Channel 5's week-long fundraiser, Help the Animals.

The Donkey Sanctuary will feature in 'The Yorkshire Vet's Donkey Day Out' on Tuesday, December 3, at 8:00pm.

The Yorkshire Vet's Donkey Day Out follows The Donkey Sanctuary's ambassador Peter Wright, as he takes long-time friends and clients, Steve and Jean Green on an animal adventure like they have never experienced before.

First to London, where they visit some of the capital's famous sights and call in to Mudchute Park and Farm, home to Skooby and Harley, two donkeys on The Donkey Sanctuary's rehoming scheme, before finally heading down to Devon, and the charity's international headquarters in Sidmouth.

Following last year's inaugural Help the Animals show which raised over £800,000, this year's appeal will be shown across the week and feature special episodes of Channel 5 favourites and support from a host of famous faces.

Each night will be dedicated to one of the five charities (The Donkey Sanctuary, RSPCA, Scottish SPCA, Blue Cross and Wildlife Aid Foundation) to highlight the amazing work they do every day and continue to raise awareness of the issues and threats facing animals in the UK as they tell the stories of those who need rescuing, rehoming or are in need in some extra care.

Ben Frow, Director of Programming at Channel 5 said: "Last year's Help The Animals raised money for five animal charities who work tirelessly all year-round to provide support and comfort to animals all over the UK. We are thrilled that Help The Animals is back for a second year with a week full of programming to shine a light on animal welfare and raise more money for these brilliant charities."
