The real story behind Churchill's secret army in East Devon will be revealed at a special talk to be held in Sidmouth tomorrow.

Andrew Chatterton from C.A.R.T, Coleshill Auxiliary Research Team, will be giving a talk on East Devon's auxiliary units at the Manor Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday, January 15.

The auxiliary units were specially trained highly secret units, operating from underground bases in local woodlands who would be called up in case of invasion in WW2.

They were extremely brave Homeguard recruits who were trained to fight the enemy to the bitter end, by whatever means, regardless of their own fate- anything to stop the enemy invasion once it had occurred.

The event, put on by the Sid Vale Association, at the Manor Pavilion Theatre on Wednesday, January 15, will take place at 2.30pm.

Everyone is welcome, tickets cost £3 and include a cup of tea or coffee.
