Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat has been involved in three separate callouts in just 24 hours - two of them assisting the police.

The first came at 8pm on Wednesday, 14th April, while the lifeboat was returning to the station following a training session. Sidmouth Lifeboat was tasked to assist Devon & Cornwall Police alongside Beer Coastguard Rescue Team, Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Exmouth RNLI in a search for a missing person.

Following an extensive search from Ladram Bay to Salcombe Mouth, then Sidmouth to Salcombe Mouth with nothing found, Sidmouth Lifeboat was stood down.

Just a few hours later at 3:05am on Thursday, 15th April, the lifeboat was placed on immediate standby, with crew kitted up and ready to go at the lifeboat station, to assist police and coastguard with a potential incident that was not related to the callout earlier in the evening. At 4am the incident had been resolved and all units were stood down.

Later that same morning, Sidmouth Lifeboat launched at 10:40 to assist the coastguard with a search for a missing man. The lifeboat conducted a shoreline search between Ladram Bay and Salcombe Mouth. After nothing was found, the lifeboat was stood down at 12:45.
