A man has died on the South West Coastal Path near Sidmouth today Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed.

Police were called at around 9.30am today to Salcombe Hill, Sidmouth, after 'reports of concern for the welfare of a man'.

The incident is believed to have taken place on the coastal path near Salcombe Hill.

A police spokesperson said: "The man was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to locate and inform his next of kin."

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file being prepared for the coroner.
