Hunt for a Golden Carrot, sign up to the Dawdle for Donkeys fund-raising walk and show off your prized pooch at the Spring Family Dog Show, The Donkey Sanctuary has it all this May half term.

Sidmouth's Donkey Sanctuary has a packed week of fun and activities this May half term, as it continues its Golden Anniversary celebrations.

The Spring Family Dog Show, held on Sunday, May 26, is bound to be popular with families and their canine pals alike. It promises to have something for everyone, including a whole host of activities for the family pooch.

The fun dog show features 15 different classes, from the perfect puppy to the prettiest pooch, and best junior handler, to the best biscuit catcher.

Four legged visitors will also have the opportunity to show off their agility skills in the Doggy Olympics.

The day also features live music, delicious local food stalls and a whole host of children's activities, ranging from go-karts and bouncy castles to face painting and welly-wanging.

Admission to the Spring Family Dog Show costs £2.50 per adult including entry into the prize draw, under 12s free. Dog show entry costs £1.50 per class.

The Golden Carrot Hunt is back! Visitors can explore a brand new trail around the Sidmouth sanctuary, searching for clues that lead to the treasure chest. Each clue relates to a special achievement or interesting fact that has defined the charity over the past 50 years.

The 'Golden Carrot Hunt' runs until July 11 and is available daily between 9am and 5pm. Each hunt costs £3 and includes a 'golden' prize on completion.

The half-term week is the perfect opportunity to sign up for The Donkey Sanctuary's 'Dawdle for Donkeys' fundraising walk.

Raising vital funds for donkeys in need, the walk takes place on June 15 and includes a family-friendly 5km route and a more adventurous 10km course. Both take in the stunning walks around the sanctuary overlooking the world famous Jurassic Coast.

The May half term is a great time of year to enjoy the sanctuary's scenic farm trails in the beautiful East Devon countryside and meet some of the resident donkeys. From the adorable miniatures to gentle giant Poitou donkeys, they all have unique characters and stories just waiting to be discovered.

The Kitchen restaurant offers fresh, local, seasonal food served with unparalleled coast and country views. Hearty breakfasts, delicious lunches and tempting treats are served daily from 9am to 5pm. For a souvenir of the day, the Gift Shop has a whole host of unique donkey-design items to suit every pocket.

All proceeds go towards The Donkey Sanctuary's work in the community and worldwide. Parking at The Donkey Sanctuary is free and dogs on leads are welcome.
