West Country Crafters' fair returns to Kennaway House

By Philippa Davies 7th Apr 2021

The first of the West Country Crafters' fairs of 2021 will take place at Kennaway House in April, following the easing of Covid restrictions.

The event will be held out of doors on the lawn on Saturday, April 24.

There will be a wide range of art and craft items available to buy, including photography, art prints, sea glass pictures and jewellery, candles and wax melts, wooden signs and bird houses, wire sculpture, pottery, leather bags and various textiles. There will also be fresh and dried herbs, jams, marmalades and preserves.

Who are West Country Crafters?

West Country Crafters consists of four former teachers who enjoyed making things in their spare time. They met through taking part in craft fairs at Kennaway House about three years ago, and took over the craft events in 2019. They now have traders coming from all over the West country to their craft fairs.

One of the four, Susan Britnell, said: "We have over 80 crafters on our books now. Last year our amazing crafting friends continued to support our fairs during tough times, and we are very proud of the calibre of our fairs. We only accept craftspeople who produce their own things.

"I personally was taught to knit by my mum before I even started school, but we all continue to learn and share new techniques and skills amongst all of the craftspeople many of whom have become our good friends since we started this venture."

The Kennaway House craft fair will be open from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, April 24, and admission is free.
