This is the first of a regular weekly feature showcasing some of the images taken by members of Sidmouth Photographic Club.

The Club was founded in Sidmouth in 1936 and currently has more than 50 members with a wide variety of photographic interests and experience.

Some of the images will be selected from competitions running throughout the year, both internally and externally with other photo clubs. Others will come from the One-a-Week, which began as a means of occupying members during the first lockdown and has continued to inspire members to contribute on a weekly changing theme.

Taking photos is an everyday event for almost everybody nowadays but for some who are keen to share their work or who wish to practice creative skills and get away from "auto" settings, Sidmouth Photo Club provides a friendly and inclusive place to meet fellow enthusiasts. The Club has a full weekly online programme currently of guest speakers, tutorials and competitions but it also plans return excursions and field trips, with full precautions, as soon as permissible.

More information about the Club can be found on the website or email if you have any photography or camera related questions which members can try to answer here. If you would like to know your ISO from your f/stop or your depth of field from your hyper-focal distance, there is help at hand at Sidmouth Photographic Club.
