The first in the Sidmouth Summer Play Season is this classic comedy by Alan Ayckbourn.

Desperate for a break, worn-down frazzled Annie, who looks after her crabby bed-ridden mother day in day out, decides to escape with her lover Norman, who is married to her sister Ruth.

Together Annie and Norman plan for a dirty weekend away in the decidedly unglamorous Sussex town of East Grinstead. The weekend develops into a disaster. Ayckbourn presents with biting wit and poignancy a tragedy of the quiet crushing of spirit that comes from unhappy relationships.
