An elderly woman was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics after a shed fire near Sidmouth today.

The Fire Service was alerted to reports of a hedge on fire in Northmostown, on the outskirts of Sidmouth, at around 12.55pm today.

Firefighters from Sidmouth found a shed on fire at the location when they arrived. The shed was well alight so the crew called in another fire crew from Sidmouth to help tackle the blaze.

An elderly woman suffering from smoke inhalation was given oxygen therapy by firefighters until an ambulance arrived at the scene.

The wooden garage was completely destroyed in the fire, the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
