This year Carers' week is from June 10-16. Many events will be taking place across East Devon, however Sid Valley HELP is bringing together all organisations that support carers locally on Wednesday, June 12 to celebrate this year's theme which is 'Carers in touch with their community'.

The venue is the Methodist Church Hall from 10.00-2.00pm. The event will be opened at 10.00am by Councillor Ian Barlow the new leader of Sidmouth Town Council. Organisations taking part include:

  • Sid Valley HELP who provide signposting and information about all carer support services as well as provide a Befriending service in people's homes.
  • Westbank who will have information about Neighbourhood Friends and their rapid response volunteers
  • Home Safeguard
  • Bright Futures Upbeat who support young carers between the ages of 18 and 24
  • Devon Carers who support all carers across the area including young carers
  • Age Concern Sidmouth
  • The Police service
  • The Fire Service
  • Counselling4Carers who offer an affordable local counselling provision for carers
  • The Memory Cafe provides a carer support group for those caring for loved ones with dementia
  • Sidmouth Hospiscare also provide support for friends and family caring for those with life limiting illnesses
  • Sid Valley Practice

There will be information and the opportunity to stop and talk with voluntary organisations that support carers in the community, as well as information about where carers can get additional support. Tea and Coffee will be available.

We hope that carers and general members of the public who want to find more information about support for carers will drop in at any time and have a coffee and chat.

In addition, we want health, care and wellbeing services and other voluntary organisations to attend so that they are fully up to date about how services may help their members or clients.
