In a post on social media this morning, Jurassic Paddle Sports has announced that the future of the Sidmouth beach business is 'on rocky ground'.

It follows alleged 'complaints about the way it is run' from East Devon District Council and members of the public, and a call for the business to 'remove its signs and flags', as they are 'causing offence'.

It states that the black rubber matting must also be removed, which are there to 'make access to the beach easier'.

A petition to has since begun circulating on social media and has amassed over 100 signatures in two hours.

The petition - titled 'Keep Jurrasic Paddle Sports afloat!' - states: "Jurassic Paddles Sports has been offering a vital service on Sidmouth seafront for seven years.

"Staff are friendly, professional and extremely well qualified.

"Due to a small number of complaints from the public and the actions of East Devon District Council the viability of this service is under threat."

People have been quick to express their feelings in comments, with one person saying "surely removing the matting discriminates against disabled people as it made access so much easier?! I hope the amount of supportive comments give you some strength."

Nub News has contacted East Devon District Council for a response and is awaiting a reply.
