Sidmouth: Police appeal for witnesses of A3052 Trow Hill crash that left three in hospital

Police are appealing for witnesses of a serious crash on the A3052 that involved two vehicles.

The incident occurred on Friday 3 December near Trow Hill, Sidford. It led to the road being partially blocked, then 'impassable' and closed for eight hours according to police.

Police were called to the scene just after 2.30pm. The vehicles involved were a black Renault Clio and a blue VW Exclusive.

The driver of the Renault, a man in his 80s, sustained serious injuries, and the passenger, and woman in her 80s, had less serious injuries.

The driver of the VW, a man in his 70s, also had less serious injuries.

All three were taken to hospital.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly after 2.30pm on Friday 3 December to the A3052 at Sidmouth following reports of a two-vehicle collision.

"The collision involved a black Renault Clio and a blue VW Exclusive.

"The driver of the Cleo, a man in his 80's was taken to Derriford hospital with serious injuries.

"The passenger in the Cleo, a woman in her 80's, plus the driver of the VW who is a man in his 70's was also both taken to hospital but with less serious injuries.

"The road was closed for eight hours as investigation work at the scene took place; police would like to thank the public for their patience during this time.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses and would also like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage that could assist with enquiries.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact [email protected] quoting log number 432, 3 December."

This incident comes after another collision in August on Trow Hill which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
