It unclear if this year's Sidmouth Classic Car show will go ahead, the organisers have put a decision on the event on hold while the Coronavirus pandemic continues.

The organisers, Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce, Crash Box and Classic Car Club of Devon, are hoping the event in September can still go ahead but are continually reviewing the situation.

Organiser Mike Lavers said: "As you will be aware by now, the latest Government announcements have effectively stopped all of the events that would have been held by the Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Crash Box and Classic Car Club of Devon, organisers of the Annual Sidmouth Classic Car Show.

"The position relating to the Sidmouth Classic Car Show scheduled for the September 19 is less clear at this time. It may be possible to proceed with it as planned, but we will not know this for several months.

"We therefore propose to wait until mid June to decide if we will still hold the show.

"The most important thing is to keep everyone safe and minimize the risk to the people attending the event. Sadly many of the classic car owners and our wonderful marshals and helpers fall into the 'high risk' age range.

"In the meantime we are not accepting any further entries to the event and we are holding the cheques that we have recently received until the situation is clearer."
