Lauren Clapp is a fully qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer and Level 3 Nutritional Advisor, with experience teaching in the UK, Cyprus and Egypt. She established LC Fitness in Sidmouth in 2017, and writes a rmonthly column for Sidmouth Nub News. Here's her message for March.

Spring is on its way. It's been so nice to see the sunshine over the last few days. With it comes news that we should hopefully be able to open our gyms within the next six weeks (fingers crossed!)

Spring usually makes us feel more optimistic anyway, the dark, cold long months of January and February are gone, and we can start to look forward to longer days and warmer weather.

At LC Fitness, I have started offering the free live Saturday morning sessions via Facebook, 20 minutes to get you hot and sweaty and get those hearts pumping.

I always offer adaptions, so the workouts are suitable for all – all ages and all abilities.

Or for an alternative why not try our low impact HIIT, available here on YouTube?

This workout will still give you the HIIT element (High Intensity Interval Training) but is a bit gentler on the bones and joints. It's also handy if you live in an upstairs flat – you won't be jumping around too much and upsetting the neighbours!

HIIT workouts of any kind are superb fitness boosters, giving you a great calorie burn; boosting metabolism; will lower body fat; improve your heart rate and blood pressure; improved insulin sensitivity; and will build stronger muscles.

What ever you do, try and start building that fitness back up again. I'm more than happy to have a chat with you, if you want to reach out.

Although the studio is closed, I am still able to do outside 1:1 sessions.

I have also recently launched an eight-week online personal training programme, which is tailored specifically for the individual, this also gives you free access to our monthly online memberships.

Stay safe, summer is coming and with it the chance of life coming back to some kind or normal, make sure you stay fit and healthy to enjoy it.
