Stormy weather is on its way to Sidmouth this weekend, thunder and lightning is expected and the heavy rain will continue throughout the weekend.

According to the Met Office, tonight we can expect heavy downpours of rain and a risk of thunder and lightning. There may be some drier spells but those spells will be short. Fog is also possible in low lying areas.

Devon Air Ambulance has today outlined its plans on how the service will continue to support the community, wider NHS and South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST) during these unprecedented times.

Currently the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is providing emergency assistance via its two critical care cars but it is now also looking at ways to get its two air ambulances back in the air while also keeping its staff safe.

A Sidmouth woman is asking for help to supply the area's doctors and nurses with fresh scrubs to help keep them and their patients safe during the coronavirus outbreak.

Emma Wickham, a concrete tester from Sidmouth, has stitched together a crack of seamstresses and is raising money to create medical scrubs for the area's healthcare workers, who are struggling to get hold of these essential garments.
