The VE Day 75 celebrations due to be held in Sidmouth this May have now been cancelled due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce secretary Sylvia Brownlee told Nub News: "Given the new directive for everyone to immediately avoid all non-essential social contact and for older and vulnerable people to isolate themselves for the next few months, we have decided to cancel the VEDay75 celebrations from 8th to 10th May.

Firefighters in Sidmouth and the wider East Devon area have cancelled all upcoming community events and station visits due to Coronavirus concerns.

Access to Sidmouth Fire Station has now been restricted to staff only as Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reacts to the Government's move to initiate the 'delay' phase of its Coronavirus response.
