A fire appliance from Ottey St Mary was called out to deal with a car that had caught on fire, causing the entire vehicle to become engulfed with flames and thick, black smoke.

The incident took place yesterday (February 4) on Barrack Road, just down from the roundabout on Daisymount at approximately 4.15pm.

A car is reported to have caught fire on Barrack Road just down from the Daisymount roundabout, near Ottery St Mary.

Ottery St Mary Police have taken to social media to warn people of a 'car on fire' and that the 'road will be closed whilst fire and police clean up.'

Fire services were called to a roof fire at Beatlands Corner in Sidmouth today at 12.30pm.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire appliances from Sidmouth, one from Ottery St Mary and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Danes Castle, were sent to a report of a roof on fire on a property at Beatlands Corner in Sidmouth.
